Welcome to the 'Society of Young Publishers Mentoring Scheme'.
The mentoring scheme was started in recognition of Gordon Graham's outstanding contribution to international publishing fellowship.
Publishing Scotland have initiated a 6 month scheme that encourages a number of selected Scottish publishers to sharpen their market research and commissioning strategies. It is encouraging them to rethink their approach to research and the books market, and be increasingly specific in their methodologies. Frances Sessford, of Stirling University's Centre for Publishing Studies, provided an overview of the first meeting.
I am the founder / co-ordinator for the Gordon Graham-SYP Mentoring Scheme, and have been involved with the SYP since 2006: http://www.thesyp.org.uk/ I have worked in various roles in academic publishing (sales, production and editorial) for 10 years -- in Scotland, Ireland and England -- after studying publishing at Stirling University's Centre for Publishing Studies. I am currently a Senior Development Editor for an international science publisher. I am interested in all sectors of publishing, and the benefits of mentoring/coaching.
